The phenomenon of digitally ordering delivery pizza has skyrocketed in popularity. Not only is online ordering more convenient for the customer, but it has streamlined business operations within the pizza location as well.
Online ordering is easy and convenient and can be done via computer or your smart phone. The smart phone pizza delivery apps have been outrageously successful; Domino’s smart phone app has been downloaded over 7.5 million times, bringing in over $3 billion in online revenue just last year alone.
Online pizza ordering is doing so well, in fact, that nearly half of all of Domino’s and Papa John’s pizza orders are completed digitally.
Ordering online, overall, is more accurate and reliable. The digital order ends the confusion of misunderstood orders due bad phone connection. By ordering online, the customer has the opportunity to see the whole menu, create the pizza, review and finalize their order, and easily pay digitally at checkout, all within just a couple of minutes.
The digital ordering is beneficial to the pizza locations as well. Due to digital ordering, the customer’s orders are more accurate, so there is less food/product waste. Also, because digital orders are now simply electronically projected onto a screen for easy viewing, there is no need for an additional employee to waste their time answering the phone and talking the customer through their order.
Digital ordering within the fast food community is beginning to trend quickly, with companies such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Starbucks currently investing in new digital ordering platforms.
