Shine Rates Pizza
Yahoo's Shine web address has a mission statement that says Shine did not want to be a site for women of any specific demo- or psychographic. The site says "On Shine we want you to ... join in the harangue as we discuss daily events." And recently the harangue at Shine concerned Pizzas. More specifically, it was the feature titled "The best and worst pizza: the chains we live for and those we don't" that caught our eye here at Pizza.com.
So what did Shine have to say about pizza, you might ask? Well, it seems the foodies at Shine are pretty serious about their pizza and here are eight surprising observations from Shine that you may, or may not agree with:
In the category "Least likely to succeed" Shine said Sbarro's Pizza was the hands-down winner due to its "dried-out, hot-plate pizza" character. Next up was Domino's Pizza as the winner of the "Most Improved" category, thanks mainly to its new and improved recipe changes. Uno Chicago Grill's Deep Dish Individual Pizza was named "Worst for You " pizza thanks to its 2,300 calorie count, and Little Caesar's earned "Worst tasting" pizza due to being "under-seasoned with rubbery cheese and barely cooked dough.
Papa John's earned "Best Tasting" honors thanks to the perception of "using better ingredients." In a surprise finish, Best Overall Pizza was determined to be Pizza Hut's Pizza Mia pizza. That IS definitely a surprise to us, but hey, it was Shine's award, not ours. And not so surprising was Chuck E. Cheese coming in dead last as "Worst Overall Pie" that was described as having "that distinct Kraft singles layered on Heinz ketchup flavor."
