Cauliflower Pizza Crust
The desire to eat healthier in general is trending, but the people’s love for pizza is everlasting. Therefore, health nuts have created a revolutionary product called cauliflower pizza crust. The name speaks to its nature: it is, simply, a pizza crust made with cauliflower instead of pizza dough, cutting carbs and calories and adding nutritional value and nutrients.
Yes, it does work. And no, it’s actually not as hard or time consuming as you might initially think.
Ingredients:
-1 head of cauliflower (medium sized)
-1 egg
-A ‘dollop’ of goat cheese
-½-1 cup of grated parmesan
-Salt and pepper
-Garlic or garlic powder
Toppings:
-Fresh shredded mozzarella
-Sliced tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
-Basil
-Any additional desired topping
Instructions:
1.Grind up cauliflower in food processor (or a box grater)
2.Cook the cauliflower for 5 minutes either in microwave or in a pan with an inch of water.
3.Let it cool (refrigerate to expedite cooling process)
4.Place cauliflower in piece of cheesecloth and wring out every last drop of water.
5.STEP 4 IS IMPORTANT
6.Mix dry cauliflower ‘flour’ with one egg, dollop of goat cheese, grated parmesan, and desired seasonings. You can also add some shredded parmesan to the dough mix for extra richness.
7.Form the dough into a pizza crust shape and bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes WITHOUT any toppings.
8.Remove dough from oven, sprinkle dough with garlic powder, add sauce, cheese, and toppings, and cook for another 10 minutes.
9.Allow pizza to cook for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
