Congratulations are in order for two pizza franchises that have both recently arrived at their 25th year silver anniversaries this year.
Domino's Pizza recently celebrated its 25th anniversary at the first Domino's Pizza store to open in the UK, marking their silver anniversary by giving away lots of free pizza at the Domino's Luton store in Great Britain. The company held a celebration event by donating free pizza slices and goody bags to local residents and every 25th customer received their order for free.
Domino's Pizza chief executive officer, Chris Moore was quoted saying "We have come a long way since 1985. We have achieved so much and have built a very strong brand that continues to grow. It is clear that over the years this store has provided the local community with absolutely millions of slices of our fresh, hot pizza so it is without a doubt a big part of this town and the people here value its presence. This store in Luton was the landmark store for Domino's Pizza in this country and it continues today to be one of our busiest and most vibrant stores. Today, we currently have 643 stores in the UK and Ireland and a network of passionate franchisees."
Back on this side of the Atlantic, Pizza 73 in Edmonton, Alberta celebrated a 25th anniversary this month as well. The Pizza 73 chain marked the occasion by hosting a two week Slices for Smiles fundraiser to benefit the Children's Miracle Network hospitals across Western Canada. From October 18 to October 30, Pizza 73 locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan will be offering online pizza deals with fifty-cents from each sale going towards the Children's Miracle Network and the four children's hospitals it supports in Western Canada.
Pizza 73's chief marketing officer, Pat Finelli issued a statement saying "Thanks to our loyal customers, the last 25 years have been filled with prosperity and fun and the Slices for Smiles fundraiser is a great way for us to show our thanks and give back to the community." In addition to the Slices for Smiles fundraiser, the Pizza 73 25th anniversary festivities will also feature scratch and win games with prizes that include trips to Cuba, plasma televisions and lots of other food prizes.
The dual 35th year milestones for the franchises show that in addition to providing excellent value and quality food, both companies have also become civic leaders in their communities through participation in numerous charities, events, youth programs. Congratulations to both on jobs well done.
