The 2010 Pizza Franchise Report from Franchise Direct is out and the news is good. The Atlanta, Georgia based company examined financial disclosure documents from 25 different top pizza franchises and the report found that pizza franchises are now doing well after having weathered the sluggish economy in the latter part of 2008 and throughout 2009. The cost of ingredients may have increased while consumer spending at restaurants decreased overall, but pizza's popularity remained strong.
Although 59% of pizzerias in the U.S. are independently-run stores, pizza franchises account for nearly half the total pizza sales nationwide. The ease and speed of the delivery and take-out aspect of pizza franchises was a strong draw for consumers looking for a hassle-free affordable, high-quality product.
Things are looking good with sales up across the industry in the first quarter of 2010. Franchise Direct's latest report predicts the over 68,000 pizza stores in America will continue to enjoy future success by giving Americans what they want, the way they want it.
