While employing social media initiatives in order to tap into your online fan base is not exactly a new idea, it does create some fun contests. Last month the Papa John’s chain launched a social media campaign on its Facebook page asking customers to create and name its next specialty pizza. This month, the Papa John’s web page is hosting another contest, and this time it’s a recipe shootout.
The new Papa John's Papa's Specialty Pizza Challenge Contest asks customers to submit their best pizza recipes for a chance to win prizes worth $35,000, including free pizza for life, a trip to Kentucky, as well as a portion of the sales the winning pizza recipe generates. There are plenty of other prizes in the latest Papa John’s contest too. Fifteen lucky semi-finalists can win a $480 Papa John's Gift Card, and judges will choose 3 finalists from the group who will get to see their own pizza recipes put on the menu at Papa John's.
Those top three finalists will win a trip to Louisville, Kentucky including airfare, hotel, and $1,000 in cash to promote their pizza recipe. The promotion is important because the recipe that sells the most will really win big. The author of the grand-prize winning recipe will get a lifetime supply of coupons for free Papa John's Pizza and a 1% share of the winning recipe pizza’s net sales, up to a maximum of $10,000. Add in the trip to Louisville, Kentucky and you have a grand prize worth up to $35,500.
Visit Papa John's on the web to enter the Specialty Pizza Challenge Contest. The contest is open to US residents aged 18 and older and participants can enter as many times as they like, as long as each recipe submitted is unique. Submissions will be accepted until June 14, 2010.
